The Malakoff High School Tigers baseball and Lady Tigers softball teams return to District 15-3A action this week following a brief pause.
Tigers baseball opens a home-and-home series with Winona, hosting Tuesday and traveling Friday. Malakoff enters the week 10-4-3 overall after defeating Commerce 12-1 Thursday and competing in a Saturday non-district game against Axtell.
The Lady Tigers softball team is 14-9 overall and 3-2 in district play. Last week, they suffered a 12-2 district loss at Grand Saline. This week, Malakoff hosts Winona Tuesday and Edgewood Friday, completing the first half of the district season. The Lady Tigers remain firmly in the playoff chase.
After spring break, the Malakoff boys and girls track teams return to competition Thursday at Eustace. The regular season is winding down with one more meet after Eustace before the district championships in two weeks.
