Corsicana Tiger baseball faces a critical road matchup Friday at Midlothian Heritage in District 15-5A play. The Tigers dropped Tuesday’s series opener at home, 9-5, snapping a 16-game winning streak. Corsicana currently shares first place in the district with Heritage and Ennis at 4-1. Last week, the Tigers swept Terrell, 6-0 and 8-0, before the Heritage setback. The return game in Midlothian Friday will be pivotal for maintaining a share of the district lead.
Lady Tiger softball also looks to rebound Friday when Corsicana hosts Crandall. The Lady Tigers are 10-13-1 overall and 2-5 in district play. They closed the first half of the District 15-5A season Tuesday with a 6-2 loss to rival Ennis, leaving them on a three-game losing streak. A win against Crandall is crucial in their push to climb back into the district playoff race.
Corsicana’s boys and girls track teams host the William Bullard Meet Friday at Community National Bank & Trust Stadium, with the Texas Relays scheduled for next week.
