Lady Tigers softball had a strong week in District 15-3A, boosting their playoff chances with two key wins. On Tuesday, Malakoff dominated Winona, 19-0, and followed up Friday with an 8-6 victory over Edgewood. The Lady Tigers are 16-9 overall and 5-2 in district play, sitting third in the standings, one game behind second-place Grand Saline and two back of district leader Mineola. This week, Malakoff faces road matchups Tuesday at Eustace and Thursday at Quitman, with the Tuesday game moved up due to the Easter holiday.

Tiger baseball is riding a four-game winning streak, highlighted by a sweep of Winona last week via run-rule victories, 21-1 and 22-0. The team is 13-4-3 overall and 3-1 in 15-3A. Malakoff also picked up a 4-2 non-district win over Axtell on March 21, following a win over Commerce. The Tigers will play a home-and-home district series with Eustace this week: Tuesday at Eustace and Friday at home.

Both the boys and girls track teams compete Thursday at the Wills Point meet.
