Beau Chenevert, a powerlifter from Paradise High School, qualified for the Texas High School Powerlifting Association’s state meet with a 1,560‑pound total in the 181‑pound class at the Region 6 Division 3 championships March 12 at Decatur High School.

Chenevert’s regional performance consisted of: 640‑pound squat, 420‑pound bench press and 500‑pound deadlift. These met the qualifying total for the THSPA state meet later in March.

At the state championships, Chenevert produced a strong showing, finishing third overall in his division. He opened the meet with a 625‑pound squat, the best in his weight class, matched his personal best with a 420‑pound bench press and recorded a 530‑pound deadlift, culminating in a 1,575‑pound total.

Chenevert’s finish marked a notable accomplishment for the Paradise High School powerlifting program, highlighting his consistency and strength across all three lifts. His performance at regionals and state underscores the depth of talent competing in Texas high school powerlifting.

The THSPA state championships bring together the top lifters from regional meets across the state, with placements determined by combined totals in squat, bench press and deadlift.

Beau is set to return to the team next year, only being a junior this year.
