Granbury Pirates baseball returns to District 5-5A action this week with a home-and-home series against Azle. Tuesday’s opener is at Azle, with the return game Thursday at Granbury, moved up due to the Easter holiday. The Pirates enter the series at 12-7 overall and undefeated at 4-0 in district play. Last week, Granbury dropped its only non-district contest, 4-2 to Birdville. Azle currently sits in fourth place in the district standings.

Granbury softball continues to face a challenging season. The Lady Pirates lost a pair of district games last week to Keller Fossil Ridge and Saginaw Chisholm Trail. Granbury now stands at 8-19 overall and 0-7 in district play. The Lady Pirates host Saginaw Tuesday before their second district bye of the season.

In golf, the District 5-5A preview tournament took place last week in Azle. The Granbury boys captured the team title with a score of 309, highlighted by Parker Jones, who won the individual championship with a 73. The girls’ team finished second but also celebrated an individual champion, Claire Jordan. The official District 5-5A tournament is scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday, also in Azle.
