Pojo baseball continued its dominance with a strong showing in an Easter-shortened series against Eagle Mountain. The Pines opened the series Tuesday with a 10-1 road win and completed the series at home Thursday. Prior to that, Springtown was 15-3-2 overall and 7-0 in district play. Last week also featured a sweep of Bridgeport, 16-1, and a 5-5 tie with Mineral Wells in a non-district matchup Saturday.
Lady Pines softball began the second half of district play this week, traveling to Lake Worth Thursday. Springtown entered the contest at 15-10 overall and 5-2 in District 7-4A. Their only district losses this season have come against Burkburnett, including an 8-4 setback on Tuesday.
Springtown’s track teams also turned in strong performances last week at the Pojo Relays. On the boys’ side, sophomore Cashton Parker finished second in the triple jump. On the girls’ side, junior Kayley Sweeley won the 300-meter hurdles. The District 7-4A track meet is scheduled for April 8-9 in Springtown.
