Cleburne baseball and softball are looking to stay within reach of the postseason following a challenging week in District 8-5A play.
The Jackets baseball team dropped both games in its rivalry series against Burleson, falling 9-7 and 19-4. The losses moved Cleburne to 13-7-1 overall and 1-5 in district action, putting the team in a difficult position in the playoff race. Prior to the series, the Jackets earned a 12-2 non-district win over Wichita Falls Memorial on March 21. Cleburne now faces a key series against Mansfield Timberview, adjusted due to the Easter holiday, with games Tuesday at home and Thursday on the road.
Lady Jackets softball continues to battle for a postseason spot, entering the week 11-16 overall and 3-5 in district play, good for fifth place, just one game behind Mansfield Timberview. Last week, Cleburne defeated Arlington Seguin 14-4 but fell to district leader Burleson Centennial 14-0. The Lady Jackets host Joshua on Tuesday before traveling to Burleson on Thursday in another key stretch of district games.
