It’s a pivotal stretch for Cleburne baseball and softball as both teams fight to stay in the District 8-5A playoff picture.
The Yellow Jackets baseball team surged back into contention with a dominant sweep of Mansfield Timberview last week, winning 16-0 and 7-4. That performance moved Cleburne to 15-7 overall and 3-5 in district play, tied with Everman for the fourth and final playoff spot. The two teams met Tuesday in Everman, with the return game set for Friday at home. Cleburne will also host a non-district matchup against Carter on Saturday.
Lady Jackets softball enters a make-or-break week, sitting 11-18 overall and 3-7 in district play, two games behind the final playoff spot. Cleburne hosted Mansfield Timberview on Tuesday, the team it is chasing in the standings, and will travel to Everman on Friday. The Lady Jackets are looking to rebound after a difficult Johnson County rivalry week that included losses to Joshua and Burleson.
The District 8-5A track meet began Wednesday in Joshua and will conclude Friday as athletes compete for district titles and regional qualifications.
