Some breaking news: On Monday, two-time girls basketball state champion coach Drew Coffman was named the new women’s head coach at Division II Midwestern State in Wichita Falls.

Coffman is a Midwestern State alum. He spent the last four years at Decatur, directing the program to the Class 4A Division I state championships in 2024-25 and 2025-26. A search for his replacement at Decatur will begin immediately.

Eagle baseball won the series opener at Eagle Mountain on Tuesday, 3-2. Decatur is 17-6-1 overall and 9-0 in District 7-4A. The return game is Friday at home. Decatur is still tied for first with Springtown.

Playoff-bound softball wraps up the regular season Friday at home against Burkburnett. The Lady Eagles lost to Springtown on Monday, 11-5. They are 10-9 overall and 6-5 in District 7-4A.

A heavy contingent from both the Decatur boys and girls track teams will compete at the area meet Thursday in Springtown.

Girls golf is finishing up the Class 4A Region I tournament Thursday in Lubbock.
