Pirate baseball is wrapping up the regular season this week with a series against Saginaw Chisholm Trail.

It is a tricky series. Granbury is in the playoffs, while the Rangers are battling to make them.

Last week, Granbury played Aledo tough but was swept by the Bearcats, 5-1 and 7-4. That dropped the Pirates to 16-9-2 overall and 8-2 in District 5-5A play.

A difficult Lady Pirate softball season is over. They finished 9-23 overall and 1-11 in District 5-5A.

Boys golf had a strong season, finishing in a tie for third at the Class 5A Region I tournament last week in Lubbock. However, Granbury lost the playoff that denied them a trip to the state tournament. The District 5-5A champions posted a two-day total of 619.

The girls golf team also had a solid showing, finishing sixth.

At the area track meet this past Friday in Aubrey, Miller Schenewark advanced to the Region I meet after winning the high jump. Chase Cantrell also advanced in the discus. The Class 5A Region I meet is in two weeks in Lubbock.
