Aledo Hosts Birdville in Bi-District Opener
The postseason has arrived, and in Texas high school softball, that means everything changes.
District records, past results, and rankings all take a backseat as the playoffs begin, and tonight, two familiar opponents meet once again with everything on the line.
The Aledo Lady Bearcats open their playoff run at home in Game 1 of a best-of-three Bi-District series against the Birdville Hawks, with first pitch scheduled for 7:00 p.m. and the NTX Varsity Sports pregame show beginning at 6:45 p.m.
Aledo enters the postseason as one of the most dominant teams in Region 1, finishing a perfect 12-0 in district play and capturing their sixth consecutive district championship. The Lady Cats have built a reputation not just for winning, but for doing so with consistency, discipline, and a balanced attack on both sides of the ball.
Across the diamond stands a Birdville team that has plenty to prove. The Lady Hawks finished 10-2 in district play, earning a second-place finish and a return trip to the postseason. But what makes this matchup even more compelling is the history between these two programs.
Just one year ago, Aledo and Birdville met in the Regional Finals, where the Lady Cats took the series in two games, winning 11-1 and 7-4 to punch their ticket to the State Semifinals. That result has not been forgotten.
Tonight, Birdville gets its shot at redemption, but this time, the stakes begin immediately.
With the Bi-District round serving as the opening stage of the playoffs, there is no room for error. One team will move on to the Area Round. The other will see its season come to an abrupt end.
For Aledo, the goal is clear: continue the dominance and make another deep playoff run.
For Birdville, it’s about rewriting the script.
Game 1 sets the tone, and under the lights in Aledo, it all begins here on NTX Varsity Sports.
