It was a week of highs and lows for Cleburne Lady Jackets softball, as their season came to an end Friday.
Cleburne opened the week with a 6-2 win over Mansfield Timberview last Monday in the District 8-5A playoff play-in game to earn the final postseason spot. However, the Lady Jackets fell to Paschal, 2-1, in a one-game playoff Friday in Kennedale. Cleburne finishes the season 16-19.
Cleburne baseball is moving on to the Class 5A Division I playoffs as the No. 2 seed from District 8-5A. The Jackets closed the regular season with a sweep of Arlington Seguin, winning 20-0 and 11-1. Cleburne finishes 22-9 overall and 9-5 in district play. The Jackets will face Paschal in the opening round in a best-of-three series at Weatherford High School. Games are scheduled for Thursday and Friday at 7:00 p.m., with a potential deciding Game 3 set for Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
The Class 5A Region I track meet is scheduled for Friday and Saturday in Lubbock. Cleburne qualifiers include Nico Flores in the 800 meters, Braydon Deskins in the 1,600 meters, CJ Kensley in the high jump, and Giselle Aguilar in the girls 400 meters.
