Hardball playoffs are underway for both Boyd softball and baseball, with strong starts on both sides.
The Lady Jackets needed just one game to advance past Village Tech out of Duncanville in the opening round of the Class 3A Division II Region II playoffs, winning 20-2. Boyd improves to 29-2 overall.
The Lady Jackets also closed the District 10-3A season April 20 with an 8-0 win over rival Paradise, finishing undefeated in district play at 12-0.
Boyd will face S&S Consolidated in the area round best-of-three series at Denton High School. Games are scheduled for Thursday and Friday at 6:00 p.m., with a possible deciding Game 3 set for Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
Boyd baseball enters the postseason at 28-2 overall and finished District 10-3A play 10-2. The Jackets swept Pilot Point during district action and also picked up a 10-3 non-district win over Brock on Saturday. Boyd opens the Class 3A Division II Region II playoffs with a one-game setup Thursday against Madison out of Dallas at Boyd. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
Several Boyd athletes will also compete at the Class 3A Region II track meet Friday and Saturday in Whitesboro.
