The Lady Knights softball team is moving on to the area round of the Class 4A Division II playoffs after a dominant opening-round performance.
The Lady Knights swept Benbrook in the Region I opening series, winning 18-1 and 12-1. Eagle Mountain improves to 22-13-1 overall. They will now face District 6-4A champion Brock, which enters the series at 22-10.
The best-of-three series will be played at Cleburne High School. Game 1 is set for Wednesday at 6:30 p.m., Game 2 is scheduled for Thursday at 5:00 p.m., with a possible deciding Game 3 to follow.
Eagle Mountain baseball also begins postseason play this week in the Class 4A Division II Region I bracket against Diamond Hill-Jarvis. The best-of-three series opens Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at Arlington Heights, followed by Game 2 at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Eagle Mountain. A potential Game 3 is set for noon Saturday back at Arlington Heights.
The Knights closed the regular season strong with a sweep of Lake Worth, winning 10-0 and 11-3. They finish 15-12 overall and 7-5 in District 7-4A.
The Class 4A Region I track meet is scheduled for Friday and Saturday in Lubbock. Eagle Mountain qualifiers include Isaiah Wade in the pole vault, Emily Burton in the 100 meters, Josslyn Bayer in the shot put and discus, and the girls 4×100 and 4×200 relay teams.
