Decatur ISD is searching for a new athletic director and head football coach following the resignation of Steve Huff, who accepted a similar position in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
Huff spent four seasons leading the Eagles and compiled a 36-18 record. Under his leadership, Decatur reached the state semifinals in 2022 and 2023 and won two district championships. The Eagles finished 8-4 in 2025 and advanced to the Class 4A Division I Region I semifinals.
The move marks the second major coaching search for Decatur ISD this offseason. In April, girls basketball coach Drew Coffman resigned to become the head coach at Division II Midwestern State in Wichita Falls.
Meanwhile, Decatur baseball opens its Class 4A Division I Region I area playoff series against Mineral Wells on Thursday at Weatherford High School. The best-of-three series features 6:30 p.m. starts Thursday and Friday, with a potential Game 3 scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday. Decatur enters the series with a 22-7-1 record after sweeping Southwest in the opening round of the playoffs. Mineral Wells is 18-12-2.
