District 10-3A champion Paradise opens the area round of the Class 3A Division II Region II baseball playoffs Thursday against Paris Chisum.

The best-of-three series will be played at Prosper Walnut Grove. Games 1 and 2 are scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday, with a potential Game 3 set for 3 p.m. Saturday. Paradise enters the series with a 27-3 record and a 17-game winning streak. Chisum is 16-11.

The Panthers advanced after dominating Village Tech of Duncanville in the opening round, winning 23-0 and 25-1. With a series victory, Paradise would move on to the regional semifinals to face either Hooks or Troup next week.

The Lady Panthers softball season ended Monday with a 10-0 loss to Bells in the deciding game of their area playoff series. The series schedule was adjusted because of the uncertain weather forecast last week. Paradise won the opener 9-2 before Bells responded with a 9-2 victory in Game 2 to force the deciding contest. The Lady Panthers finish the season with a 28-7-1 record.

At the Class 3A Region II track and field meet, Paradise captured regional championships in the boys 4×100 and 4×200 relay events. Ady Stoltz also finished second in the 400 meters. All have qualified for the UIL Class 3A state meet, scheduled for May 14-16 in Austin.
