A historic season for the Mildred girls golf team came to an end Tuesday at the Class 2A state tournament.
Competing at Lions Municipal Golf Course in Austin, the Lady Eagles tied for 10th place with Riesel. Senior Cooper Anderson finished 26th individually. Simply qualifying for the state tournament marked a major accomplishment for the program, which is only in its second year of existence. Mildred won the District 20-2A championship before finishing third at the Region III tournament in Jacksonville to earn a state berth.
The Mildred baseball season also came to a close after the Eagles dropped two of three games to Harleton in the opening round of the Class 2A Division I Region III playoffs. The series was played in Edgewood. Mildred won the opener 12-1 before falling 15-3 and 18-2 in the final two games. The Eagles finish the 2026 season with a 23-6 record.
The track and field season has also concluded for the Mildred boys and girls teams following last week’s Region III meet in Palestine. Mildred did not have any state qualifiers.
