Krum’s girls track and field program will take center stage at the UIL Class 4A state meet Thursday in Austin.
Marlie Morris and Kara Heckler will each compete in multiple events at Mike A. Myers Stadium after strong performances at the Class 4A Region I meet last week in Lubbock.
Morris qualified for state in the 100-meter hurdles, triple jump and long jump. The senior captured Region I championships in all three events and enters the state meet seeded fourth in the triple jump, fifth in the long jump and eighth in the 100 hurdles.
Heckler also advanced to state in the triple jump and long jump after finishing second to Morris in both events at regionals. She is seeded ninth in each event. The senior narrowly missed qualifying in a third event after placing third in the 300-meter hurdles.
