Aledo One Win Away From State Semi-Finals

The Aledo Ladycats are headed back to the Regional Final with a trip to the UIL State Semi-Finals on the line tonight as they battle the Abilene Lady Eagles in a winner-take-all showdown.

First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. with NTX Varsity Sports pregame coverage beginning at 3:45 p.m.

Aledo enters tonight’s matchup at 28-10 overall after another dominant postseason run through the UIL 5A Division I playoffs. The Ladycats swept through the Regional Semi-Final Round last week against Lubbock Monterey, taking Game 1 by a score of 3-1 before exploding offensively in a 17-1 Game 2 victory in Wichita Falls.

The Ladycats have continued to build on one of the most successful stretches in program history. On April 17th, Aledo secured its sixth consecutive district championship while extending its district winning streak to 66 straight games. The current senior class has never lost a district softball game.

Aledo’s playoff journey has included a hard-fought Bi-District series win, where the Ladycats captured two of the three games played, along with a winner-take-all Area Round victory over Paschal.

Standing in their way tonight is an Abilene Lady Eagles squad that has put together an impressive postseason run of its own. Abilene enters the Regional Final at 26-11-1 overall after winning District 4 and advancing through the playoffs with six postseason victories.

With both programs battling for a spot in the State Semi-Finals, tonight’s game carries major weight as the winner moves one step closer to playing for a state championship in Austin.
