Malakoff’s Miley Dowell closed out her season with a memorable performance at the UIL Class 3A state track and field meet Thursday in Austin.
Dowell was the final athlete representing Malakoff during the 2025-26 UIL athletic season and competed in the 100-meter hurdles and long jump at Mike A. Myers Stadium.
The junior earned a bronze medal in dramatic fashion in the 100 hurdles, finishing third in 14.72 seconds. Dowell edged the fourth- and fifth-place finishers by just five-hundredths of a second in a tightly contested race.
In the long jump, Dowell placed sixth with a mark of 17 feet, 0.5 inches, improving on her ninth-place seed entering the meet.
The state meet appearance capped a standout season and provided Dowell with a lasting memory on one of Texas high school track’s biggest stages.
