ARGYLE – The Aledo High School Bearcats boys basketball team heads into a Class 5A Division I regional quarterfinal showdown Tuesday against the Birdville High School Hawks at Argyle High School at 7 p.m. in a matchup of two of North Texas’ most competitive programs.

Aledo (26-6) earned its spot in the regional bracket after a strong regular season, posting notable wins and finishing among the higher-seeded qualifiers in the UIL Class 5A bracket. Recent results show the Bearcats have been consistent through February, with victories over teams such as Brewer and Granbury, bolstering their playoff positioning.

Birdville (27-5) enters Tuesday’s game listed among the top state-ranked teams in the division. The Hawks recently picked up wins against district foes and have been among the leaders in their region throughout the season, maintaining a strong winning percentage.

Tuesday’s contest marks a neutral-site playoff game at Argyle High School, where both squads will look to continue deep postseason runs. For Aledo, a victory would not only extend its season but also advance the Bearcats into the regional semifinals later in the week. For Birdville, the Hawks are aiming to capitalize on their high ranking and experience to remain in title contention.

Fans are expected to turn out as both teams prepare for one of the most anticipated regional matchups of the early UIL boys basketball postseason.
