ALEDO, Texas — The top-ranked Bearcats will open District 3-5A play Friday when they host Brewer at Tim Buchanan Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
Aledo’s defense has been the story so far, posting an 18-0 shutout of Lancaster last week in South Dallas County. The Bearcats forced two turnovers and held the Tigers to fewer than 130 yards of offense. Running back Brady Powell added more than 100 rushing yards and a touchdown.
Brewer enters at 2-0 with wins over Saginaw and Lake Dallas.
In volleyball, Aledo opened District 5-5A play Tuesday with a sweep of Azle. Ranked No. 2 in the state Class 5A poll, the Ladycats are 25-2 and will host Brewer on Friday at 6 p.m.
Aledo cross country will compete Saturday at Saginaw Boswell. Last week, the girls finished fourth in the elite division at Southlake Carroll’s meet.
