Both the Bearcats and Lady Cats basketball teams hit the road Friday to Saginaw, carrying momentum from Tuesday’s dominant home victories over Keller Fossil Ridge.
The Bearcats boys exploded for an 84-48 win, moving their record to 16-6 overall and 2-0 in District 5-5A play. The game was essentially decided by halftime, with Aledo leading 37-18. The 84 points scored set a season-high for the team. During the holiday week, the Bearcats fell to Argyle, 49-42, in their only other game.
The No. 24-ranked Lady Cats also cruised past Fossil Ridge, 66-28. They now stand 15-7 overall and 3-0 in district play. Last week, Aledo competed in the Sandra Meadows Tournament in Duncanville, finishing 2-2 with all four games decided by eight points or fewer.
Meanwhile, the Aledo boys and girls soccer teams are in the middle of their season-opening tournaments, running through Saturday. The girls fell 1-0 to Argyle in the opener under new head coach Taylor May, who comes to Aledo from Keller Fossil Ridge. The boys won 3-1 against Denton Ryan on Tuesday.
