No. 1 Aledo’s 2025 football season, the program’s final as a Class 5A school, ended just short of a state championship berth, finishing with a 14-1 record. The Bearcats fell 56-52 to Frisco Lone Star in the Class 5A Division I state semifinals, marking their first semifinal loss since 2015.
Aledo showcased one of the top defenses in school history, allowing fewer than 11 points per game. The national record district winning streak continues at 135 as the program moves into 2026. Offensively, the Bearcats dominated, beating Denton Ryan twice in the regular season and playoffs.
Senior wide receiver and Notre Dame signee Kaydon Finley set a school record with 54 career touchdown receptions. The offense also featured two 1,000-yard rushers, Kaden Winkfield and Brady Powell, while quarterback Lincoln Tubbs finished just 64 yards shy of becoming the third 1,000-yard rusher.
Next week, coverage will include Aledo’s upcoming move to Class 6A.
