A perfect playoff run survived a nearly three-hour rain delay and ended with another state championship for Aledo baseball.
Last Friday at Dell Diamond in Round Rock, the Bearcats captured their second consecutive Class 5A Division I state title with a 3-1 victory over Montgomery Lake Creek.
Aledo jumped out to an early 3-0 lead and received outstanding relief performances from Dane Browne and Garhett Love to secure the win.
The championship is the third in program history under coach Chad Barry. The Bearcats also won state titles in 2025 and 2014.
LSU signee Lucas Nawrocki was named the game’s Most Valuable Player. The left-hander started on the mound and threw 4 1/3 innings of scoreless, no-hit baseball. He also drove in a run at the plate.
Aledo completed the postseason with a perfect 11-0 record. The Bearcats have now won 16 consecutive playoff games dating back to their 2025 championship run.
The state title also marks Aledo’s final athletic event as a Class 5A school. The Bearcats officially move up to Class 6A on Aug. 1.
