The Aledo High School Bearcats boys soccer team advanced to the area round of the Class 5A State playoffs after a dramatic penalty-kick victory over Denton, 4-3, in the Class 5A Division I Region I opening round Thursday at Eagle Mountain. The match was tied 2-2 after regulation. Aledo now improves to 19-3-2 and will face either South Hills or Joshua Friday in the area round.
The Lady Cats soccer team saw its season end in the opening round, falling 2-1 to Colleyville Heritage Thursday. Aledo closes the season with a District 5-5A Championship and a 13-8-1 record.
Aledo baseball is off to a strong start, sitting 16-2 overall and 2-0 in District 5-5A after sweeping its opening district series against Brewer, 4-1 and 12-0. The Bearcats will play a non-district game Saturday at Justin Northwest.
The Lady Cats softball team holds a 15-9 overall record and a 5-0 mark in District 5-5A. This week, they earned run-rule victories over Saginaw and Granbury.
