Aledo Bearcats soccer is heading to the Class 5A Division I Region I semifinals after a dominant 6-0 area round victory over Joshua Tuesday at Brewer High School. Trent Newton and Calvin Gruber each recorded hat tricks, while goalkeeper Drew Vozeh secured the shutout. Aledo led 2-0 at halftime before opening up the match in the second half. The Bearcats improved to 21-3-2 and will face El Paso Bel Air Friday at noon at Astound Broadband Stadium in Midland, previously known as Grande Communications Stadium. Bel Air enters the matchup 21-1-2, advancing after a shootout win over Wichita Falls Legacy.
Aledo baseball wraps up its series with Saginaw Chisholm Trail Friday at home. The Bearcats are 18-2 overall and 3-0 in District 5-5A after Tuesday’s 10-0 win at Saginaw.
Lady Cat softball continues to dominate in District 5-5A, sitting at 16-9 overall and 6-0 in league play. Tuesday’s 10-0 victory over Azle keeps the Lady Cats perfect in district play as they prepare to face Brewer Friday.
