FORT WORTH, Texas — All Saints will continue its road swing on the eastern side of the Metroplex tonight with a trip to Plano to face Prestonwood Academy. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
The Saints bring momentum into the matchup after rallying for a 24-21 win last week at Parish Episcopal in Dallas. Trailing by a touchdown late in the fourth quarter, quarterback Gavin Beard connected with Hattan French for the tying score with under two minutes to play. The defense then forced a strip-sack fumble to set up freshman kicker Carver Johnston’s game-winning 23-yard field goal in the final seconds.
Tonight’s contest will be the season opener for Prestonwood.
In volleyball, the Lady Saints are off this week following their appearance at the KSA Invitational in Honolulu. All Saints collected several key wins, including a victory over Class 3A state power Boyd, while also facing Texas Class 6A competition. Head coach Mary Schindler said the trip provided the challenge her team needed — along with the opportunity to take in the Hawaiian scenery. The Lady Saints will return to action Sept. 9 against Blum.
