Friday night’s matchup in North Richland Hills between All Saints and Fort Worth Christian will decide the TAPPS Division II District I championship. The Saints enter at 8-0 overall and 3-0 in district play, riding a 22-game winning streak. The Cardinals come in 7-1 and 2-1.
All Saints took care of business last week with a 45-10 win over Midland Christian. Quarterback Gavin Beard delivered a career performance, throwing for 373 yards and four touchdowns as the Saints surpassed 400 total passing yards. Hatton French led the receiving corps with 127 yards and a touchdown.
If Fort Worth Christian wins and Midland Christian defeats Grapevine Faith Christian on Friday, the district title race would end in a three-way tie for first place.
On the volleyball court, the Lady Saints wrapped up their regular season Thursday with a non-district home match against Oakridge. All Saints entered the contest 24-5 overall after sharing the TAPPS district title with Southwest Christian at 13-1. Despite the co-championship, the Lady Saints earned the No. 2 playoff seed, as Southwest Christian holds the tiebreaker. The TAPPS playoffs begin next week.
