ALEDO – For the first time in school history, both the Aledo Bearcats boys and Ladycats girls basketball teams clinched District 5‑5A championships during the same season, marking a historic milestone for the Aledo High School programs.
The Bearcats secured the boys district title with a 49‑37 win over Fort Worth Brewer in their regular‑season finale, finishing with an undefeated mark in district play. This represents the program’s first 5‑5A district championship, a significant achievement for a team that has steadily risen in the competitive ranks of 5A basketball.
On the girls side, the Ladycats capped an undefeated district slate with a dominant performance, securing the first district championship since the 2018‑19 season. Their perfect record in league competition underscored a season of consistency and depth, as Aledo girls basketball fans celebrated the program’s return to the top of District 5‑5A after a seven‑year gap.
Combined, this marks the first time both Aledo boys and girls teams have held district titles in the same season, a feat that has energized the Bearcat community. Coaches, players and supporters have highlighted the achievement as a testament to the development of athletics at Aledo High. While the Bearcats and Ladycats now turn their focus to the post‑season, this dual accomplishment adds to a growing legacy of competitive success for Aledo athletics.
The Bearcats’ success this season also contributed points toward Aledo High School’s 2025 UIL Class 5A Lone Star Cup, awarded for overall excellence in academics, athletics and fine arts, further underscoring the depth of the school’s programs.
