The Boyd Yellow Jackets control their playoff destiny heading into the final two weeks of the regular season. Their postseason hopes will hinge on how they perform against the top two teams in District 4-3A down the stretch.
Boyd put itself in position with a 31-21 road win over Iowa Park last Thursday, improving to 5-3 overall and 2-2 in district play. Running back Maddox Parks led the way with 168 rushing yards and a touchdown as the Jackets built a 21-7 lead entering the fourth quarter and held on late. The victory also guaranteed head coach Shawn Sparks a .500 record in his first season at the helm.
The Jackets return home Friday for senior night, hosting Peaster at 7 p.m. The Greyhounds enter the matchup 7-1 overall and 3-1 in district play, sitting in second place in 4-3A.
On the volleyball court, the 10th-ranked Lady Jackets completed an undefeated run through District 10-3A to claim the championship. Boyd finished the regular season 30-9 overall and 12-0 in district play after wins over Paradise and Pilot Point last week. The Lady Jackets carry a 14-match winning streak into the playoffs, which begin later this week.
