Lady Jackets volleyball is headed back to the Class 3A Division II state finals, and this time the team hopes to deliver a championship sendoff for retiring head coach Clark Oberle. Boyd swept Wall in the state semifinals Saturday at Wichita Falls Legacy High School, improving to 35-9. The win followed a dramatic five-set victory over District 10-3A rival Paradise in the regional finals earlier in the week.
Boyd will face 42-6 Clifton for the state title at 1 p.m. Friday at the Culwell Center in Garland as the program looks to cap its postseason run with a championship.
On the football field, Boyd’s 2025 campaign offered signs of a potential turnaround. The Yellow Jackets reached the playoffs for the first time in five years, closing the regular season 5-5 and earning a berth in the Class 3A Division I postseason. Their season came to an end Friday in a 42-7 bi-district loss to Tuscola Jim Ned at Art Briles Stadium in Stephenville.
Boyd trailed just 14-7 at halftime after a touchdown pass from quarterback Cash Selby, but the Indians pulled away in the second half. Running back Maddox Parks rushed for 113 yards, continuing his standout season. The Jackets finish 2025 at 5-6. A full recap of the season will follow next week.
