Boyd basketball teams are concluding holiday tournament play this week as they prepare for district competition.
The Lady Jackets are finishing the China Spring Tournament, which began Monday and concludes Tuesday. Boyd enters the event with a 9-10 overall record and a 1-1 start in District 10-3A. Before the UIL-mandated holiday break, the Lady Jackets split two league games, defeating Callisburg, 47-24, but falling at Ponder, 70-29. District play resumes Friday at home against Pilot Point.
The boys team is concluding the Bridgeport Tournament, which began Monday and wraps up today. Boyd entered the tournament with an 11-6 record. Prior to the holiday break, the Jackets lost consecutive games to Alvord, 62-46, and Graford, 76-56. Senior Lex Horton is off to a strong start this season, averaging more than 20 points per game. District 10-3A play for the boys begins Friday at home against Pilot Point, following the girls’ matchup.
