Boyd athletics has learned its district placement for the next two years following the University Interscholastic League’s biannual realignment announced Feb. 2. The Yellowjackets will remain at the Class 3A Division I level. Separate districts are designated for football and other sports.
For football, Boyd will compete in District 4-3A in Region I. The five-team district includes Bowie, Paradise, Peaster and Vernon. The alignment was not unexpected, but the five-team format requires a six-game non-district schedule.
Head coach Shawn Sparks’ program will open against Tolar before facing Jacksboro, Henrietta, Pilot Point, Mineral Wells and Venus in non-district play.
In other sports, Boyd will compete in District 8-3A in Region I. The seven-team district includes Callisburg, Paradise, Pilot Point, S&S Consolidated, Valley View and Whitesboro.
The new alignment cycle begins in August with the start of volleyball season.
