BOYD, Texas — The 2025 football season begins Friday for the Yellow Jackets with the debut of head coach Shawn Sparks.

Boyd closed fall camp last week with its second scrimmage, against Bridgeport, and looks to leave recent disappointing seasons behind. The opener is set for 7:30 p.m. Friday on the road at Howe.

Sparks is still deciding on a starting quarterback. The competition is between senior Cash Selby and junior Aiden Young, as 2024 starter Will McIntire shifts his focus to baseball. Howe is coming off a 3-7 finish last fall.

In volleyball, the Lady Jackets went 4-3 at the Glen Rose tournament over the weekend and enter the week with an 11-4 record. They will host Graham on Tuesday before traveling to Oahu to compete in the KSA Invitational, which runs Thursday through Saturday.
