Saturday’s rains washed away Boyd softball’s regular-season finale against Highway 114 rival Paradise.
The two teams played Monday in Paradise. The District 10-3A champion Lady Jackets did not need the game. They were 27-2 overall and had already clinched the district championship at 11-0.
However, Paradise needed it. The Lady Panthers are battling Whitesboro for the second playoff seed, which impacts the Division I and Division II playoff brackets for District 10-3A.
Jackets baseball is essentially locking down the No. 2 playoff spot in District 10-3A.
Boyd swept Ponder last week, 15-1 and 6-0, and then beat Bowie in a Saturday non-district game, 9-1. The Jackets are 25-2 overall and 8-2 in District 10-3A.
Boyd finishes district play against Pilot Point this week, Tuesday at home and Friday in Pilot Point. The Jackets then play two more non-district games before the playoffs begin. They play at Arlington Heights on Saturday and then meet Mineral Wells on April 27 at Weatherford College.
At the area track meet last week in Whitesboro, several Boyd athletes advanced to regionals.
