Another tremendous season for Boyd baseball ended with a gold medal.
On June 4, the Yellow Jackets defeated Corpus Christi London 9-8 to capture the Class 3A Division I state championship at Dell Diamond in Round Rock.
The title is the second in program history, joining the championship won in 2023.
The championship game featured plenty of drama. Boyd fell behind 3-0 early before responding with an eight-run surge to build an 8-3 advantage. London answered with five runs in the top of the sixth inning to tie the game at 8-8.
The Yellow Jackets, however, pushed across the go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth. Reliever Colton Patton then stranded the tying run at third base in the seventh inning to secure the save. Lane Beacham earned the victory on the mound.
Boyd second baseman Keelan Clary was named the game’s Most Valuable Player after going 3-for-3 with five RBIs.
The state championship caps another remarkable run for the program, which has reached at least the state semifinals in three of the past four seasons.
Boyd finishes the 2026 season with a 39-3 record and adds another trophy to its championship collection.
The 2026-27 athletics calendar begins Aug. 1.
