BOYD — The Boyd Yellow Jackets return to District 3-4A play Friday on the road at Vernon. Boyd enters the matchup at 3-2 overall and 0-1 in district play after falling to Ponder 32-29 on Sept. 26.
The Jackets dropped that contest in the closing moments but continue to show strong progress under first-year head coach Shawn Sparks. After winning just one game in 2024, the team’s current record marks major improvement. Running back Maddox Parks has surpassed 700 rushing yards this season and is on pace for a 1,000-yard campaign.
Friday’s matchup will be a challenge. The Vernon Lions are 5-1 overall and 1-1 in district following a 49-13 win over Ponder last week. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
The Lady Jackets volleyball team continues to roll, sitting at 24-9 overall and 6-0 in District 10-3A play. They have won eight straight matches and host second-place Ponder on Tuesday before traveling to Valley View on Friday.
Boyd will also host the District 10-3A cross country meet on Thursday.
