Bridgeport basketball opened District 7-4A play Saturday with mixed results on the road at Eagle Mountain.
The Bulls dropped their district opener, falling 45-39, to move to 10-11 overall. The loss followed a solid finish to the non-district schedule, as Bridgeport went 2-2 at its own tournament last week with wins over Petrolia and Granbury. Offensively, the Bulls feature multiple scoring options, with three players averaging double figures. Julius Jones is joined by junior Owen Jones and senior Blake Morrow, who are averaging 11 and 10 points per game, respectively. Bridgeport continues district play Tuesday at home against Springtown before traveling to face No. 10 Burkburnett on Friday.
On the girls side, the Sissies picked up a key district road win, defeating Eagle Mountain, 54-47. Bridgeport improved to 15-10 overall and 2-1 in District 7-4A play. The victory came on the heels of a 2-2 showing at the Weatherford Tournament during the holiday break. The Sissies host Springtown on Tuesday and travel to Burkburnett on Friday.
Soccer season is also underway for Bridgeport. The boys team opened with a strong 5-1 start through weekend tournament play and will travel to Godley on Tuesday. The girls team begins its season Tuesday at home against Kennedale.
