Bridgeport boys soccer is making another deep postseason push, while baseball and softball experienced mixed results last week.
The Bulls continued their strong playoff run in the Class 4A Division II Region I bracket with two shutout victories. Bridgeport defeated San Elizario, 5-0, in the area round Tuesday, then followed with a 2-0 win over Ferris in the regional semifinals Friday. Now 19-3, the Bulls advance to the state quarterfinals, where they will face Brownwood at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Stephenville’s Art Briles Stadium.
Bridgeport baseball faced a difficult week against District 7-4A leader Springtown, dropping both games of the series, 11-3 and 16-1. The Bulls now sit at 5-13-1 overall and 1-3 in district play. They return to action this week with a series against Castleberry, adjusted due to the Easter holiday, with games Tuesday at home and Thursday in River Oaks.
Sissies softball continues to battle through the season but earned a milestone victory last week, defeating Lake Worth 27-9 for its first District 7-4A win.
