This past Thursday at Birkelbach Field in Georgetown, the Bulls captured the Class 4A Division II state title with a 5-2 overtime victory over Brookshire Royal. The match was tied 2-2 after regulation, but the Bulls erupted for three goals between the two 10-minute overtime periods.
Jared Contreras led the way with a hat trick. Xxavier Garza scored the other two goals. David Duran added two assists.
After reaching the state semifinals in 2025, Bridgeport showed the resilience and chemistry to make the final push. The final record for 2026 is 22-3.

Despite getting swept by Decatur last week, Bridgeport baseball is still clinging to fourth in District 7-4A at 8-15-1 overall and 3-5 in district play. The Bulls have a chance to get right this week against last-place Lake Worth.
Boys golf competes at the Class 4A Region I tournament Monday and Tuesday in Lubbock.
