BURLESON, Texas — Burleson High School had double the reason to celebrate Friday night, reclaiming the Battle of the Boot with a 45-21 victory over cross-town rival Centennial and also winning the NTX Spirit Showdown Game of the Week.
The Elks set the tone early, forcing a first-quarter safety and racing to a 22-0 halftime lead. Their defense swarmed the Spartans, creating turnovers and halting drives, while the offense capitalized on momentum with big plays and timely scores. By the final whistle, Burleson had snapped a three-game losing streak in the rivalry and lifted the traveling trophy for the first time since 2020.
In the stands, Burleson supporters were just as dominant. As part of the Spirit Showdown, fans cast their votes throughout the week to prove which school had the loudest, proudest spirit in North Texas. Burleson secured a decisive majority of the votes, earning a spot in the season finals and a chance at the $3,000 grand prize donation, presented by Kroger.
For Burleson, the night was more than a win on the scoreboard. It was a reclaiming of pride, both on the field and in the community.
