Cleburne Sports Update – 11/3/2025

The cross-country season came to a close for Cleburne’s two state qualifiers Friday at the UIL Class 5A state meet at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock.

Junior Jessilyn Wurster earned a top-75 finish in the girls 5K race, placing in the middle of a competitive 149-runner field with a time of 19:48. Sophomore Nico Flores also turned in a strong performance, finishing in the top 100 of 152 runners with a time of 17:05. Congratulations to both athletes on outstanding seasons.

On the volleyball court, the Lady Jackets’ season ended Thursday in the Class 5A Division I Region I playoffs with a first-round loss to Paschal. Cleburne closed the year with a 15-22 record.

The football season also came to an end last Friday, as first-year head coach AJ Sheppard’s Yellow Jackets fell 48-12 to county rival Joshua at the Rock Pile. Cleburne finishes 2-8 overall and 0-6 in District 7-5A, concluding the season with this week’s bye.
