The Cleburne Lady Jackets head into the holiday break playing some of their best basketball of the season, carrying a seven-game winning streak into the Mansfield Spring Creek BBQ Tournament, which runs Monday through Wednesday.
Cleburne opens tournament play Monday against Mansfield Legacy and Alvarado. The Lady Jackets are 13-5 overall and unbeaten in District 8-5A at 3-0, sharing the early district lead with Joshua.
Before the break, Cleburne was dominant in district action. The Lady Jackets overwhelmed Arlington Seguin, 76-17, and followed with a convincing 50-37 win over Burleson Centennial. That contest was largely decided early, with Cleburne holding a 44-22 advantage after three quarters.
On the boys side, Jackets basketball will compete in the China Spring tournament, also scheduled for Monday through Wednesday. Cleburne opens play Monday against Grandview and Lake Belton.
The Jackets enter tournament action with a 7-9 overall record. Prior to the break, Cleburne picked up a 49-33 win over Eastern Hills before dropping its District 8-5A opener to Burleson Centennial, 71-39.
Both the Lady Jackets and Jackets will return to district competition next week following tournament play.
