The 16th-ranked Cleburne Lady Jackets opened their playoff run Monday night with a dominant performance. They scored the game’s first 39 points and went on to an 80-15 blowout of Arlington Heights in the 5A Division I Region I opening round at the Wilkerson-Greines Athletics Center.
The win improved Cleburne to 26-8 overall and extended their winning streak to 12 games. The Lady Jackets now face a tougher test in the area round, drawing No. 2 and defending 5A Division I state champion Denton Ryan, which enters the matchup 32-4 and riding a 13-game winning streak. The two teams are scheduled to tip off at 7 p.m. Friday at the Arlington ISD Athletics Center.
Cleburne boys basketball concluded its season Tuesday at home against playoff-bound Arlington Seguin. The Jackets finished 11-20 overall and 2-11 in District 8-5A.
In soccer, the Lady Jackets entered the week unbeaten at 11-0-2 overall and 5-0-2 in District 8-5A, sitting in a three-way tie for first place in district standings.
