One of the most successful seasons in Cleburne girls basketball history came to an end Friday night.
The 16th-ranked Lady Jackets saw their 2025-26 campaign conclude with a 56-41 loss to No. 2 and defending Class 5A state champion Denton Ryan in the Division I Region I area round at the Arlington ISD Athletics Center. Denton Ryan controlled much of the contest, though Cleburne remained within striking distance throughout.
Cleburne advanced to the area round with a dominant opening-round victory last Monday, overwhelming Arlington Heights 80-15 after scoring the game’s first 39 points. The Lady Jackets finished the season 26-9 overall and claimed an undefeated District 8-5A championship.
Cleburne boys basketball closed its season Tuesday with a 91-53 loss to playoff-bound Arlington Seguin. The Jackets finished 11-22 overall and 2-12 in District 8-5A play.
In soccer, the Lady Jackets entered the weekend 11-1-2 overall and 5-1-2 in district action but suffered a 4-2 road loss Friday to new district leader Burleson Centennial. The boys soccer team fell 3-0 to Centennial and stands 5-9-4 overall and 5-3 in District 8-5A competition.
