CLEBURNE, Texas — The 2025 football season begins Friday for the Yellow Jackets with the debut of head coach AJ Sheppard. Hired in January after serving as defensive coordinator at Mansfield Lake Ridge, Sheppard leads Cleburne into its opener against Corsicana. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at the Rock Pile.

Cleburne wrapped up fall camp last week with a scrimmage against Everman. The matchup was moved from Thursday to Friday because of bad weather, but the Jackets still got their work in. Both teams are looking to put the frustrations of the 2024 season behind them.

In volleyball, the Lady Jackets entered the week with a 6-11 record. They hosted Alvarado on Tuesday and will compete in the Grapevine-Colleyville Heritage tournament Thursday through Saturday.

Cleburne’s cross country teams are scheduled to run Friday in Burleson.
