Cleburne baseball and softball are working to recover after a challenging stretch in District 8-5A play.
The Jackets baseball team entered the week 13-7-1 overall but struggled in district standings at 1-5. Last week’s rivalry series against Burleson proved tough, with Cleburne dropping both games, 9-7 and 19-4. Prior to that, the Jackets defeated Wichita Falls Memorial 12-2 in a non-district matchup on March 21. This week, Cleburne faced Mansfield Timberview in a key series to climb back into playoff contention, with the opener Tuesday at home and the return Thursday in Mansfield.
Lady Jackets softball continues to fight for a playoff berth, starting the week at 11-16 overall and 3-5 in district play. Last week, they beat Arlington Seguin 14-4 but fell to district leader Burleson Centennial 14-0. The team hosted Joshua Tuesday and traveled to Burleson Thursday in Johnson County rivalry games.
Cleburne track teams competed Thursday in Azle, with the District 8-5A meet scheduled for next week.
