Because of an easy sweep of Everman last week, Jackets baseball holds the fourth playoff spot outright in District 8-5A.
Cleburne started the week 17-7 overall and 5-5 in district play. The Jackets have a chance to help themselves even more this week with a series against next-to-last Mansfield Summit, along with an opportunity to clinch a postseason berth.
Cleburne will also play a Saturday non-district home game against Midlothian Heritage.
This is the final week of the regular season for Lady Jackets softball. They started the week 13-18 overall and 5-7 in District 8-5A.
They are one game behind Mansfield Timberview for the final playoff spot. Cleburne beat both Timberview and Everman last week.
They needed to win their final two games of the season at Mansfield Summit on Tuesday and at Arlington Seguin on Friday to keep playoff hopes alive. The Lady Jackets also need Timberview to lose one game to force a tie.
Finally, Nico Flores in the 800 meters and Braydon Deskins in the 1,600 meters will compete in the area track meet Friday in Joshua.
