Cleburne baseball is advancing to the Class 5A Division I Region I playoffs as the No. 2 seed from District 8-5A.
Due to the weather forecast, the Yellow Jackets began their opening-round series against Paschal on Wednesday at Weatherford High School. Game 2 remains scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday, with a potential Game 3 set for 1 p.m. Saturday. Fans are encouraged to check school website and social media accounts for any schedule changes.
Cleburne closed the regular season by sweeping Arlington Seguin and entered the playoffs with a 22-9 overall record and a 9-5 mark in district play.
The Lady Jackets softball season ended last week. Cleburne defeated Mansfield Timberview 6-2 on April 21 in a District 8-5A play-in game to secure the final playoff spot. The Lady Jackets then fell to Paschal, 2-1, in a one-game playoff in Kennedale, finishing the season with a 16-19 record.
The Class 5A Region I track and field meet is scheduled for Friday and Saturday in Lubbock. Cleburne qualifiers include Nico Flores (800 meters), Braydon Deskins (1,600), CJ Kensley (high jump) and Giselle Aguilar (400).
